More Painting

Here are a few other pieces I painted on a black base this weekend. I'd been wanting to try metallics on black for a while now. I think I'll be doing some more in the future. Ideas on what to do with these gratefully accepted. My stacks of hand-dyes and hand-paints are getting unwieldy!

Recreating- Not!

I decided I really liked the tyvek I painted, so I decided to try to recreate it in fabric. This is a photo of it. Pretty cool, but not very much like the original. I'll have to try again...

Tyvek II

I recently bought the 'Kaleidoscope Kreator' software and have been having a ball creating kaleidoscopes from photos I've taken. This one was made from the photo of the melted tyvek. The photo wasn't great, so it's a bit fuzzy. That's my fault, not the software's. The other thing I did with the tyvek was to try to make some beads. Sorry for the lousy photo, but I was in a bit of a hurry. Overall, I think there's potential, but I burned holes in several of them, so I'd need to experiment a bit more.

Tyvek Explorations

I've been feeling the need for some color therapy. Yesterday, I painted a recycled tyvek envelope with plain and metallic paints. It actually turned out pretty cool. The picture on the left is after it dried. The picture on the right is after I hit half of it with a heat gun.

Happi Coat

My guild does a fashion show each year and this year the theme is 'East Meets West'. Since Megan is half Japanese, I really couldn't pass up the opportunity. Since I was making the pattern, I figured I should do a sample first. This is the sample. The main blue fabric is a light-weight denim. It is fully lined, but not padded. Megan loves it and she got a lot of attention at the Japanese market today.
